Feb 08: Las Vegas, Nevada, USA The NFAA (National Field Archery Association) World archery Festival in Las Vegas is the most prestigious indoor tournament in the world. With thousands of shooters coming from every continent, you won't find a more intense level of competition than on the shooting line in Vegas. It's also the ultimate proving grounds for who has the most accurate bows. Once again, Hoyt bows with the Cam and a half Performance System dominated the tournament.

Archers from across the globe gathered this week at the Riviera Hotel and Casino to do battle in the world's largest indoor archery tournament. In the end, Team Hoyt's pro shooters proved once again their rightful place on the podium sealing the top spots in both the compound and recurve championship divisions.

Hoyt's perennial podium-topper Dave Cousins outlasted 14 other archers in a gruelling shoot-off to win the Men's Compound Unlimited Championship division. The scene was intense, as a standing room only crowd and no shortage of pressure set the stage for one very nerve wracking finale. Calm and collected, Cousins came through in the clutch with a perfect three-arrow score of 30 to earn a one-point victory. It was Cousins second time atop the Vegas podium.

Team Hoyt's ladies dominated the ranks of the Women's Compound Unlimited Championship division, as Nichola Simpson (GBR) shot her way to the top spot and Tiffany Reeves and Jamie Van Natta placed second and third, respectively.

Hoyt's pro recurve shooters had an equally impressive run, with Magnus Petersson (SWE) and his 900CX/Nexus claiming the top spot in the men's recurve division, and Khatuna Lorig topping the women's recurve podium.

Other notable performances from Team Hoyt shooters include:

  • a perfect 300 30X round from Reo Wilde
  • scores of 900 from Dan Quintana, Benton Christenson, Kevin Tataryn and Braden Gellenthien
  • Steve Gatto winning the Men's Compound Unlimited flights
  • Jeff Fabry winning the Men's Compound Limited Championship division
  • Jeff Stark winning the Bare Bow Championship division
  • B.J. Deaton winning the highly competitive Bowhunter Freestyle Flights

With more shooters and more pay-out than any other indoor event, the World Archery Festival is truly the biggest venue in indoor competition. The event tests the mettle of the world's most tournament-proven archers. Hoyt would like to congratulate all of its shooters for an amazing showing at the 2008 World Archery Festival.
