Longbows from Bear and Martin are all still hand made in the USA by bowyers, some of which have been plying their craft for upwards of 40 years.
Fred Bear registered his company in 1939, although its parent company, Escalade Sports, formerly known as Indian Archery commenced in 1927. Bear traditional bows are made in Gainesville, Florida and still keep to Fred's trusted methods of crafting bows.
Martin Archery has been making bows almost since inception in 1952 and goes back even further to 1938 by a lineage to the late famous bowyer, Damon Howatt. Martin's longbows were made at the Howatt Plant in Yakima, Washington, about 130 miles to the north east of Martin's factory in Walla Walla, but in 2010 the Howatt Plant was closed and all production moved to Walla Walla.
We believe our longbow offering from these famous manufacturers, gives our customers variety in the range, yet at very affordable prices. Needless to say Bear and Martin longbows are made to the highest standards and when you buy one of these bows, you normally are buying a bow you keep for life.
We also stock longbows from Samick, who commenced business in 1975, the year of Abbey's inception. Samick started in Kimpo City in South Korea but moved their traditional bow production to mainland China in 2004.
