The XT Series Tilt-Compensated Laser InSight Rangefinder combines a pulsed laser rangefinder and a vertical angle sensor in a lightweight, easy-to-use package that is ideal for shooting applications that require precision distance measurements uphill or downhill in seconds.
So easy to use... ideal for hunting, police, swat, emergency services, construction and many other distance measurement applications.
Both line of sight distance and horizontal distance measurements in one affordable package. Line of sight distance is the distance from the rangefinder to the target, whereas horizontal distance is the distance from the rangefinder to a point horizontal to the rangefinder directly above or below the target and it means aiming the rangefinder at a target above or below your position and getting the true distance that you need to calculate your trajectory. There is an internal LED display, so you can now range in extremely low light levels of the morning or evening. And there is no need to take your eye off the target. Simply press the power button, put the Red Dot on the target and release the button. It's Simple. It's Fast. It's Accurate.
The laser beam emitted by the rangefinder is in the form of a vertical stripe of invisible light, which enhances the rangefinder’s ability to hit thin vertical targets. The OPTi-Logic Tilt-Compensated Laser InSight Rangefinder incorporates a unique lock and load feature that simplifies the task of hitting targets in the presence of background objects.
Simply depress the range button and aim the rangefinder using the red dot aiming aid in the viewfinder. The laser is fired after the button is released, which provides time to properly aim the rangefinder and minimises the chance of hitting unintended objects.
To improve the accuracy of the instrument, an onboard computer averages multiple readings from the object. After the rangefinder has received enough information, the red dot will turn off and the distance is shown in the display.
The maximum distance measurable by any laser rangefinder is determined by several factors including the size, shape, reflectivity and orientation of the object as well as atmospheric conditions. Colour and surface finish of the target also affect the reflectivity and therefore can influence the range as well.
A good quality target is a non-gloss object that is light in colour and has enough surface area for the laser beam to efficiently reflect back to the rangefinder. Vertical objects tend to make better targets than horizontal ones.
White objects tend to range farther than black objects. Target surfaces that are perpendicular to the laser beam are better than surfaces tilted away from the rangefinder. Targets made of retroreflectors provide the greatest range capability. Retroreflectors are made of special materials designed to reflect light back toward the light source, for example, stop signs, street signs, license plates and specially made OPTi-Logic reflectors.
Contrary to expectation, extremely glossy surfaces like windows and mirrors do not make good targets, because they tend to reflect light away from the instrument.
This hand held rangefinder is capable of measuring line-of-sight distances to non-cooperative targets up to 400-600 yards away, depending on target size and reflectivity.
Using an internal electronic tilt sensor, the OPTi-Logic tilt compensated laser InSight rangefinder is also capable of automatically correcting for vertical angle with 0.1 degree resolution to provide the true horizontal distance to an uphill or downhill target. It gives you corrected horizontal distance, thus eliminating the need to guess the actual distance to the target.
True horizontal distance is especially important for any application that requires a projectile to be launched at an angle like bowhunting and 3-D archery, rifle hunting and SWAT team applications, golfing and much more. The OPTi-Logic Tilt-Compensated Laser Range Finder is designed as a short range Laser Rangefinder loaded with the latest technology, adapted with the archer in mind - when you want the best Laser InSight Range Finder on the market.
High precision and improved accuracy are just two of its advantages. Readings are taken in half yard or .46 metre increments, thus improving accuracy.
Range Reflectorless 100 yards or 91 metres. Range with Reflector 400-600 yards or 365-548 metres.
OPTi-Logic Laser Rangefinders offer line-of-sight distance measurements with +/- 1 yard or 0.91 metre accuracy, 4 yards or 3.65 metres minimum ranging distance, automatic rain mode, red-dot targeting, one touch instant on, automatic shut off operation and powered by a single 9 volt alkaline battery.
Modes of the 400XT
- Measures line-of-sight distance. Press the range button to activate the Red Dot aiming device and place the Red Dot on your target. Release the button and wait for the Red Dot to disappear. When the Red Dot disappears, read the distance in the external LCD.
- Measures horizontal distance. Press the range button to activate the Red Dot aiming device. Put the Red Dot on your target. Release the button and wait for the Red Dot to disappear and then read the distance in the LCD. After the unit takes its distance measurement, it must take an angle measurement.
- Measures ballistic correction. Higher accuracy for archery with ballistically compensated information for arrow speeds of approximately 220 to 330 fps.
