Australian Hunting DVD Bushman Brooks The Border Ranges

The second DVD in this adventure series, The Border Ranges has now been released. It has more of everything the first DVD has and then some. Bushman Brooks has added bowhunting, spotlighting, fishing and even some aerial footage of Bushman Brooks' backyard, the Border Ranges of New South Wales and Queensland.

However the two Daves - Dave Brooks, the hunter and Dave Eggins, the cameraman, have bigger plans than just making quality hunting DVDs. They are showcasing to the world Australia's awesome country, teaching bush safety and survival, respecting our native plants and animals and demonstrating aspects of a lifestyle rapidly disappearing in the wake of technology, work and time pressures and the hustle and bustle of everyday living.

This latest DVD has been a challenging project from the beginning. It contains so much footage, it has been split into two 1 hour episodes with over half an hour of special features including a bit of backyard archery, a look over and under the Landcruiser, some bull anatomy lessons - not for the faint hearted, a demonstration of Brooks' innovative "swammock" which is what happens when a swag meets a hammock.

Part 1 sees Dave Brooks, aka Bushman Brooks, jump into a small plane and fly over his stomping ground, the Border Ranges, and present a fresh and interesting view of this area. He then heads into the bush and collects bush tucker. He discovers over a dozen varieties of bush tucker and explains how he only takes what he needs. Features on bushcraft, bush remedies, survival tips and 4WD techniques. He then proceeds onto another of his passions, freshwater fishing, pursuing bass and throws a lure into one of his favourite watering holes.

Brooks takes his trusty off-road 4 wheel drive Landcruiser vehicle, called "Ride Shotgun" out for a couple of days in the bush. Not only does he get the "old girl" airborne, he tackles a major obstacle with the intelligent use of the 4 wheel drive's winch and a level head. He demonstrates off-road driving techniques and explains ways to avoid getting into trouble, even if his methods are not necessarily "by the book".

Part 2 is pretty much total hunting. When Brooks gets a call to help out a couple of local farmer friends, he didn't anticipate anything too tricky. Up for a bit of bowhunting action, he grabs his bow and goes out. Pretty soon, he finds that taking out a few problem feral Brahman Bulls would be a little tougher than anyone could imagine.

He puts his life and also the life of his best mate, Dave with the camera on the line when they hide in a postion where a big bull approaches to within 10 metres. You'll just have to wait and see what happens next.

Not everything goes according to plan in hunting as any hunter would well understand. Other times, Bushman Brooks finds that making a plan and sticking to it can reap great rewards. Bowhunting, rifle shooting and spotlighting, this DVD has something for everyone. With limited time, feel the adrenaline and frustration as Bushman Brooks hunts his biggest challenge yet!
