Russian Boar Statistics at a glance

• Conservation Status - Least Concern
• Zoological or species name - Sus scrofa
• Native to - Northern and Central Europe, Mediterranean Region (including North Africa's Atlas Mountains) and much of Asia as far south as Indonesia. Populations have also been artificially introduced in some parts of the world, most notably the Americas and Australasia; principally for hunting. Elsewhere, populations have also become established after escapes of wild boar from captivity.
• Head & body length - 55 to 78 inches (140 to 200 cm)
• Shoulder height - 26 to 31 inches (65 to 80 cm)
• Speed - 30 to 35 mph (48 to 56 kph)
• Population est - UTS, but Australia alone has between 3.5 and 23.5 million according to an Australian Government parliamentary enquiry tabled in November 2005 and cause $106.5 million damage per year
• Life Span - 10 years
